Top Hair Loss Supplements

Its a good idea to read " What Causes Hair Loss " so you can fully understand how supplements help you.

As we said in the Types Of Male Hair Loss Treatment post, supplements are the most natural and cheap way to treat your hair loss. The lack of side effects and low price compared to great results makes it a great choice. But in order to get all that ( natural ingredients, great results and a low price) you have to make sure that you claim the right supplement. So here are the 2 best hair loss supplements on our list.

Profinast

This combinations of herbs, nutrients and vitamins has a great effect on hair loss and hair re-growth. As you know form previous posts vitamins and nutrients are a key factor for healthy hair. The herbs like saw palmetto, pumpkin seed, muria puama and more are proven to stop and reverse the process of hair loss by blocking the formation of DHT, and of course they have a few more positive effects on your overall health. For instance muria puama has been used for decades to treat rheumatism, strengthen the heart, and promote intestinal health.

Profinast works by blocking the formation of DHT. As you would know if you followed our first tip on this page, DHT is the main reason for hair loss and if it can be stopped, hair loss will also stop. The actual ingredients that block DHT are saw palmetto and nettle root.

Types Of Male Hair Loss Treatment

It might be a good idea to read " What Causes Hair Loss " before you pick your treatment.

Basically there are 2 types of male hair loss treatment - medical and surgical. We favor medical treatment so it will be the first to discuss.

The medical hair loss treatments are shampoos, supplements, creams and such. They usually work by suppling you hair with vital nutrients, vitamins and herbs, some of them even have the ability to block the DHT. Our favorite treatment is trough herbal supplements. This one is usually natural and side effect free, if you pick the right one.

Supplements we recommend are Profinast and Provillus. More on the at Top Hair Loss Supplements

The surgical hair loss treatments should be an alternative to medical. The reason for this is that they are a lot more expensive ( from 8 000-20 000 USD ) and can have a bad end if you don't pick your surgeon carefully. However this treatment shows the best results and should be considered if anything else didn't work.

The best surgical hair loss treatments is hair transplantation.

Hair transplantation surgery

Its basically an operation that takes hair from the back of the head and moves it to the area of hair loss. The hair on the saids and the back of the head is known as donor dominant hair which is the hair that will continue to grow throughout the life of most men. The transplantation of this hair to a bald area does not change its ability to grow and resist hair loss. Thats because the follicles at the back and the side of your head are not subject to the effects of DHT, and since the follicles are whats transplanted you will not have hair loss problems again.

We already told you that in order to avoid risks of complication you should pick a good surgeon, but there are other risk factors that involve you and your lifestyle. The surgeon will ask you anyway but here is a list of the most important:
  • medications that decrease the ability of the blood to clot, such as anti-inflammatory drugs
  • conditions that require antibiotics prohylaxis, such as artificial joints or valves
  • alcohol abuse or heavy drinking
  • tobacco use, especially long-term cigarette smoking
  • obesity
  • use of herbal supplements
  • use of immunosuppressive drugs, including chemotherapy and corticosteroids
  • malnutrition, including anorexia and bulimia
  • chronic or recurrent viral infections or bacterial
  • chronic disease of the lungs, liver, kidneys, heart or gastrointestinal system
  • chronic or recurrent skin infections such as boils
  • diabetes or other chronic metabolic disease
  • immunosuppressive disease—e.g., HIV-AIDS
Its important to tell your surgeon about these risk factors and explain everything as fully as possible. Its rare that patients are denied just because of this so don't worry, you will get your new hair, but its important that the surgeon is aware so he can eliminate the risks of complications.

Think well before you pick your treatment, consider the risk, the expenses, the level of your hair loss and what suits you best. As you already know we recommend supplements for their great effects at low price and no risks, but the final decision is yours.

Vitamins That Prevent Hair Loss

In order to fully understand the importance of vitamins, I suggest you take a look at " What Causes Hair Loss "

There are certain vitamins that can have a great effect on preventing hair loss and reversing it. They do it in 3 ways:
  1. Vitamins nourish and heal the scalp
  2. Vitamins revitalize damaged hair follicles and this way they promote hair growth.
  3. Vitamins obstruct the production of di-hydro testosterone or DHT – one of the main problems of hair loss
Vitamins that prevent hair loss, and help you regrow the lost hair are Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Biotin and Vitamin B.

Vitamin C

This vitamins ensures that the hair follicles get the supply of nutrients they need by increasing the blood circulation in the scalp. This way your hair will be healthy which means it will stay on your head.

The best sources of vitamin C are Kakadu plum, Acerola, Jujube, Kiwifruit, Red pepper, beef meet, calf liver.

Vitamin E

Prevents hair loss by improving the uptake of oxygen, which leads to better health of the scalp and hair.

Great vitamin E sources are Alomnds, Asparagus, Avocado, Nuts, Spinach and other green leafy veggies.

Biotin - Vitamin H

Biotin is great for preventing hair loss and growing hair. It is an important component of several enzymes and is involved in energy metabolism. Biotin also helps maintain hemoglobin levels in your blood, hemoglobin transports oxygen between your lungs and your body's tissue so its very important for your hair.

Sources are soybeans, green peas, oats, sunflower seeds, brown rice, brewer’s yeast, walnuts and lentils.

Folic Acid - Vitamin B9

Same effect as biotin, maintains hemoglobin levels.

This vitamin is the most likely for you to be deficient in so take a good look at its sources:
Leafy veggies like spinach, lettuces, dried beans, fortified cereal products, sunflower seeds.

Vitamins are a great way to prevent hair loss or reverse the process, so don't lose any more time or hair and start taking all the vitamins you need!

If you can't do it by just using the food sources, you can try vitamin supplements or hair loss supplements which contain those vitamins and many other herbs and nutrients. To find out more on supplements check our Top Hair Loss Supplements post out!

What Causes Hair Loss?

In order to prevent or reverse hair loss you have to know why and how you lose your hair.

This happens because of an excess of a chemical called dihydrotestosterone, or DHT. It is formed when androgen (the male hormone that is very important for both hair loss and hair growth) combines with 5 alpha-reductase enzyme. Once formed, DHT binds to hair follicle, retards growth and cuts off blood supply to the follicle. As you know, blood transports vitamins, minerals and everything needed to be healthy. So its normal to have an unhealthy and soon to be missing hair when the blood supply is cut off.

DHT is one of the 3 major reasons for hair loss. The other 2 are heredity and lifestyle.

Around 50% of the men who suffer from hair loss have inherited the condition. There isn't much to it, just check out if someone in your family has male pattern baldness, if yes you might have to start thinking of a treatment cause you will be unable to prevent the hair loss it self. If no one in your family suffers from this condition, read on to see how your lifestyle can cause losing your hair.

The third reason should be more discussed. Your lifestyle can affect hair loss in many ways. As you already know blood flow is important for bringing nutrients and vitamins to your hair. But what if they are not enough? Some of them are essential to having a healthy hair, and to having any hair at all. So the first thing you should look out for is your diet!

  1. Make sure you have a well balanced diet containing plenty of grains, vegetables, fruits, protein and healthy fats.
  2. Increase your intake of dark leafy vegetables.
  3. Eat super foods like berries and broccoli that are packed with nutrients and vitamins.
  4. Drink plenty of water.
  5. Avoid overcooking vegetables because it robs them of their nutrients.

Another lifestyle factor is smoking. It affects hair loss in at least 2 ways:
  1. Causes blood vessels to constrict which makes it harder for the heart to pump blood through the arteries which impacts the blood circulatory system.
  2. produces carbon monoxide which inhibits the blood's capacity to carry oxygen.
As we said, blood supply is a key factor for having healthy hair, so anything that has such negative effects on your blood flow will help you lose hair. If thats not what you want, you better consider putting an end to smoking.

Stress is a key factor to many people's hair loss. It causes a white blood cell attack on the hair follicles, which stops hair growth. What you can the about it is to straighten your life, make it simpler and feel more positive about things. Don't worry, be happy!

Another mistake people make is using strong chemicals. In their ambition to look good a present people overuse shampoos, hair gels and such. This will help you now but in the long run it will lead to hair loss.

So these are the 3 major causes for hair loss, 2 of them are preventable. There are supplements that block the DHT ( and also contain many important vitamins, herbs and nutrients, more on that at our Top Hair Loss Supplements post) and of course you can always change you lifestyle.
